HOT TOPIC ONE - Where does matter come from? …small particles can appear out of nowhere quite suddenly. One microsecond they are not here, the next microsecond they are here. They appear out of absolutely nothing, forming with their twin sisters called antiparticles. Curiously, as soon as these particles and antiparticles make an appearance in our universe they collide and batter each other into almost instant oblivion. They materialise and then immediately go about the business of causing their own absolute destruction, probably within a trillionth of a second. Not only that, this annihilation of both the particles and antiparticles leaves no trace that they ever were in existence in the first place. How about that then! Would you like to know more?
